Mauna Kea culture

The Mauna Kea Visitor Information Station has launched a program in

whieh different Hawaiian cultural practitioners will share their mana'o on past and present uses of Mauna Kea. The one-hour presentations will begin at 6 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month, followed by the regularly scheduled stargazing program. On May 15, Kupuna Agnes Pung will conduct a presentation on lauhala weaving, and on June 19 the program will feature Pilialoha Shiplay. The Visitor Information Station is located at the 9,300 feet elevation of Mauna Kea and is accessible from Hilo, Waimea and Kona via the Saddle Road.
