Kamehameha suit

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals will re-rehear Jolm Doe v. Kamehameha Schools on lune 20 in San Francisco. An "en banc" panel of 15 judges will reconsider the court's 2-1 decision last year in favor of the plaintiff, "lohn Doe," who claims his civil rights were violated when he was denied admittance to Kamehameha based solely on his laek of indigenous Hawaiian status. The court's agreement to re-hear the case is a relatively rare occurrence, giving the school's supporters hope that the inihal ruling, whieh sparked massive protests, might be reversed. If not, the school will likely appeal the case to U.S. Supreme Court.
