Cūntinued fram page 03 post. Kalama will serve out the remainder of Lau's five-year term that ends in lune 2008. Kalama was selected by State Probate Judge Colleen Hirai from a field of three final candidates that also included attorney Allen Hoe and fonner city official Ivan Lui Kwan. Diane Plotts, Ret. Admiral Robert Kihune, Nāinoa Thompson and J. Douglas Ing, along with Kalama, comprise the five-mem-ber board that sets policy for Kamehameha Schools. The board oversees an investment portfolio that boosted its endowment to $7.7 hillion during the last fiscal year. It is estimated that during that period, KS spent $221 million on education. Kalama also sits on the board of the University of Hawai'i Foundation, has served on the board of the Queen Lili'uokalani Children's Center and has served numerous other community entities.
