Hōkūleʻa navigates new waters

Hōkūle'a and its crew reached Palmyra Atoll March 19, nine days after leaving Honolulu i waters. The atoll, 1,000 miles to the south of Hawai'i, served ūs ū plaee for a shift change, j allowing fresh crew members to meet up with crew from the journey south. The Hōkūle'a, j ū traditional Hawaiian open-oeean voyaging eanoe whose crew relies on traditional i Polynesian navigation, is expected to make landfall in Hawaii around the first week in j April.
