OHA WELCOMES WHITE HOUSE OFFICIAL

On Oct. 1 2 the Office of Hawaiian Affairs welcomed Kirin Ahuja, Executive Director of the White House lnitiative on Asian Americans and Pacific lslanders, and Kamuela Enos, Director of Community Resource Development at MA'O Organic Farms, who was recently sworn in as a member of the President's Advisory Commission on Asian Americans and Pacific lslanders. President Ohama lastyear re-established the White House lnitiative to help improve the overall quality of life for not only Asian Americans and Pacific lslanders but also Native Hawaiians. One of the main topics the group discussed was pre-K to high school education, and early education in particular. "Preschool and early educational programs is essential to higher education and the betterment of young Native Hawaiians," said OHA's Chief Executive Officer Clyde Nāmu'o, who is seated at the head of the table on left.
