Car loan program

The Pathways to Work Loan Program provides car loans for low- to moderate-income families who don't qualify for a loan from a conventional lender. The moderate-interest loans ean be used for a variety of vehiclerelated expenses such as buying a car or car repairs. Loans are capped at $6,000 for purchases and $750 for repairs. The loan program aims to help families improve their hnaneial situation and give them a better option

than turning to predatory lenders. To be eligible, you must be 18 or older, meet ineome limits, have dependent children and either be working at least 19 hours a week or going to school to earn a posthigh degree. Services include hnaneial literacy education - covering budgeting, shopping tips, credit card debt and savings plans - as well as setting goals and assessing transportation needs, including bus or ride-sharing options. The Pathways to Work Loan Program is administered by the nonprofit Child & Family Service, with funding support from Hawai'i Community Foundation, Hawaiian Electric Industries and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.
