Librarianship symposium

Nā Hawai'i 'Imi Foa will present Ho'okele Na'auao: A Hawaiian Fibrarianship Symposium, in eollaboration with the Faka me Fono Resource Center at Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies and the University of Hawai'iMānoa Fibrary and Information Science (FIS) Program. The symposium seeks to build the Native Hawaiian presence in the FIS field, and to promote Hawaiian librarianship and its importance in the 21st century. Ho'okele Na'auao will feature leading professionals in the information sciences field. Presenters from Hawai'i, Aotearoa and the United States will share their experiences working with information management in Hawaiian and other indigenous communities. Session topics include Hawaiian Resources Online (including OHA's Papakilo Database), the Application of Hawaiian Perspectives and Values in FIS, and Native Feaders in FIS. Ho'okele Na'auao will be held Thursday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 8

p.m. at the Kamakakūokalani Center for Hawaiian Studies. All are invited to attend. Attendance is fr ee, and registration is strongly encouraged to assist with food quantities and logistics.
