Polynesian Player of the Year honored

Notre Dame University offensive lineman Ronnie Stanley is being honored as the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year. The honor is handed out by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame. Stanley, who is of Tongan descent,

was the cornerstone of the Notre Dame offensive line. The Irish finished the regular season with a 10-2 record and an overall ranking in the top ten in the country. Stanley, of Las Vegas, said, "My mom was born in Tonga. I'm very proud of our culture and honored to be a part of it." In 2014, the Marcus Mariota won the inaugural award. The Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award was voted on by Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee members.
